REZUM, Water Vapor Therapy

What is Rezum?

REZUM, Water Vapor Therapy

The Rezum system uses water vapor therapy to treat BPH. The procedure involves injecting steam into the prostate tissue, causing the immediate cell death and the prostate to shrink over time.

During the Rezum procedure, a small device is inserted into the urethra, and the steam is delivered via the small needle to the prostate tissue. The number of needle treatments depends on how big your prostate is and the whole treatment may take only 10-15 minutes. This targeted application of steam helps to reduce the size of the prostate, relieving pressure on the urethra and improving urinary symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and difficulty starting or maintaining a steady stream.

Rezum is considered a minimally invasive treatment option for BPH and is often performed on an outpatient basis. It is an alternative to more traditional treatments for BPH, such as medication or surgery.
